Customer Reviews
Worth Every Penny
2008-08-30
No matter where I shop, I always check the Amazon Reviews first. I also check with CNET. Some professional reviews said that the blacks and gray-scale were off. Damned if I could see it. I went to a brick and mortar store a looked at lots of TVs. Everything from Sony to Samsung. If they take the name and price tag off this TV, you will not be able to tell the picture from a Sony, in fact, you might even like it more. Seeing the name and price will prejudice what you see. One thing this TV has that most of the others don't is an anti-glare screen, great when there are other sources of light around. Here was the bad. The batteries in the remote kept falling out until I stuffed a piece of tissue in the battery cover. The grammar on the box and instruction manual are clearly not perfect English. Besides that, it is a super TV.
Super Video

I've been watching this set for 4 months now and couldn't be happier. I sit about 6.5 feet from the center of the screen and it looks great. They say you need to be farther away, but no problem. I can stand a couple of feet from it still, no pixels are visible. Setup was a breeze. Four HDMI plug-ins make it easy to hook everything up.
Color is excellent. I have turned the backlight down to 10 and sharpness to +2, everything else is default. I view Dish HD and upsampled video on it, both look super. Nice blacks, no weird tint. Watch sports with no noticeable blur.
I love it.
Outstanding HD Television

This is my third HD TV, I also own a Toshiba DLP 62" as well as another Vizio that is a 42".
This Vizio 47" is superb. While it only has a contrast ratio of 2000:1 whereas the 42" has 5000:1 ration, it still delivers very sharp imagery that does not blur when the action gets moving fast.
I don't know a lot of technical jargon but I can tell you what I have seen and experienced from using my Vizio 47". Breathtaking television. And the fact that Vizio Guarantees no bright pixels, you can rest assured that you won't be lugging your new set back due to some bright or dark spots showing up on your screen. There are many HDMI ports to hook up to. I have my HD Satellite Box, HD DVD Recorder/Player and my Xbox all hooked up and ready to go in HD.
This is a fairly large TV, however it is surprising light to handle. I was easily able to lift it into the back of my van and once I got back to my pad it was no problem getting it into my home and up the stairs into my Man Cave. I've been in here now for several days, haven't decided to come out yet. I've got my old lady sliding food and stuff under the door while I sack out in here watching TV for hours. I've got this sucker hooked up to a 5.1 digital surround which is nice. I'm drinking green tea and eating chocolates, really enjoying this new HD TV. Hey man, this TV came with an HDMI cable, which was cool. Be sure to use an HDMI cable in order to get the most out of your new Vizio 47". Since I've bought mine, I have convinced a friend in Colorado to buy one as well. He likes his too! We both thank God for making such awesome TVs. I want to take the opportunity to thank God for this mighty fine television. Thanks God! (Spoken while pointing both index fingers toward the Heavens!)
