Editorial Review
In one of the most unique memoirs of addiction ever published, Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx shares mesmerizing diary entries from the year he spiraled out of control in a haze of heroin and cocaine, presented alongside riveting commentary from people who were there at the time, and from Nikki himself.

When Mötley Crüe was at the height of its fame, there wasn't any drug Nikki Sixx wouldn't do. He spent days -- sometimes alone, sometimes with other addicts, friends, and lovers -- in a coke and heroin-fueled daze. The highs were high, and Nikki's journal entries reveal some euphoria and joy. But the lows were lower, often ending with Nikki in his closet, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and wrapped in paranoid delusions.

Here, Nikki shares those diary entries -- some poetic, some scatterbrained, some bizarre -- and reflects on that time. Joining him are Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Slash, Rick Nielsen, Bob Rock, and a host of ex-managers, ex-lovers, and more.

Brutally honest, utterly riveting, and shockingly moving, The Heroin Diaries follows Nikki during the year he plunged to rock bottom -- and his courageous decision to pick himself up and start living again.

Interesting up to the first 10 pages..... 2008-09-02
Although 'The Heroin Diaries is marketed as a "unique memoir of addiction", this book is, at best, a collection of repetitive drug induced snap shots with absolutely no depth or insight. To sum up the book, Nikki Sixx: Does blow, sleeps with groupies, shoots heroin, hates mom and dad...does blow, sleeps with groupies, shoots heroin...then in the end he dies and comes back. Although the book tries to capture the hellish existence of addiction, it fails to bring the message home since Nikki, at times, glorifies his lifestyle. Also, the commentary provided fails to expand on Nikki's entries in an insightful manner. Instead they only confirm to us that 'yeah..great party, lots of girls.. wow Nikki is F*cked up". This book is about 300 pages too long and it only serves to crush curiosity instead of providing a life altering message. Borrow it if you can.

Diary of addiction 2008-08-25
Nikki Sixx touched upon his addiction in Motley Crue's The Dirt. But whereas much of that book comes across as chest thumping - and probably exaggerated - tales of rock star excess, Nikki's solo project, The Heroin Diaries, is just what the title describes. A very personal account of his trials and tribulations with sex, drugs, rock n roll, women, his bandmates, other bands, the media and most of the world for that matter. A great read that is near impossible to put down.

Down to Earth 2008-08-23
The day I heard Motley Crue I was addicted. My 1st show was at UCSB w/ Cherry Bombz way back in the day when people would say "who"..... I saw them many times after that. Nikki was my idol. After joining the Army and going overseas for a few years I lost touch with US bands in general. So......this book caught me up with what Nikki and the band were up too for my lost years. It is a very interesting perspective on what really goes on behind stage doors and the emotions and feelings involved with drug use. It brings truth, it brings laughter and tears. The way Nikki expressed his truthfullness about addiction, it helped me understand the how and why people are addicted and the hardship of quitting. Interestingly enough I wonder why people would do that to themselves after reading this!
The book was down to earth from Nikki's heart and soul.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE (EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE CRUE) 2008-08-23
This is a great read! I bought this as a gift for a friend of mine that really likes the Crue. After reading a couple of pages, I realized that I needed to buy it for myself as well. I'm glad I did.

First off, I want to say that I am NOT a big fan of Motley Crue's music. That did not stop me from enjoying the hell out of this book. Nikki really pulled me in and captured my imagination the entire way through.

I would highly recommend this for anyone that is into sex, drugs and/or rock and roll.

Hard to Put Down 2008-08-19
This book is amazing. It is both tragic and funny. The stories are non stop and really show how messed up ones life can get when hooked on junk. I highly recommend it.

Hardcore Book About Hardcore Topic 2008-08-16
This book is frightingly real and brutally honest. Interesting read but probably not for everyone.

good until the end 2008-08-13
This book was very fun to read, although it got a little repetitive after reading 100 pages of his weird crazy-skitzo antics. I dont like that at the end of the book it doenst tell you anymore diaries of him after he got sober. It just kind abruptly ends with a few notes that said what he went on to do and so on....but overall a good read otherwise!

Addicted to this book?! 2008-08-05
On advice from a friend in rehab who read it i bought it brand new. Did not stop reading it except to sleep and eat...period. Thirty six hours later i felt as spent as he did, without the crakheads and dirty needles. I really felt for the character...because as real as he lived it it is still a ROCKSTAR's portrayal of addiction. Nobody i know has ever been that high but alot have been that low. Not so much a book of "you can kick dope too" book as a "I went this far and lived" book to me. My only complaint was the price and since some of that goes to a charity if you can afford to, buy it new.

A Great Read 2008-08-01
This is one of the best books I have read in years. I am not a big reader however this is the book I could not put down and finnished in three days. A great read.
