Little and Faster

Hi,
The portable one fulfills all the expectations that I had. He is very fast and light. I retired the operating system to him that brought and I installed Debian to him. I am very contented with the purchase that I did.

this is a great product... a "regular" computer takes me about a day to get set up and working.. the eee linux is easy to turn on and took about 10 minutes to get set up..
our company uses this for instore audits and simple tasks.
as long as you use the many great built-in applications, then you will love this computer, too.
the only difficulty is having other app's not designed to work with linux work with the eee. there is an eee user's
forum which helps with this.. but success is not assured.
if you are looking at lots of other app's, then look at the windows xp version and shut off updates as they make the computer longer to shut down.. i prefer linux as it's simpler and a bit faster..
i am very impressed with the eee.. and so far love it even more than its competitors..
It is very good!

It starts up and shuts down in seconds. It is very fast. The screen is clear. It has a built in camera. It has a lot of nice features. If you dont type very long documents because of the small keyboard, this is a very good laptop. I actually chose this over a Macbook. Portability is a big selling point.

Excellent micro-laptop

I've been using the PC900 for about 1 month. Battery life is good. Excellent built in wireless networking as well as wired. Great machine for email and web sufing. Video chat is also good with the built in camera and mic delivering very good quality. VERY SMALL machine weighs just 2 pounds & can almost fit in your pocket. Fits easily into any briefcase and you hardly know it's there. It comes loaded with a great bunch of software, ie: Open Office. Not much you can't do with this suite. One word of caution- you need to be slightly familiar with Linux. As delivered, this machine will NOT run Windows apps. Windows XP can be installed, but the machine will be quite slow. If you want a tiny lightweight laptop for web and email use when you're away from home...THIS IS THE ONE !
great product !

Fine little machine

I purchased this for my wife, since she had never became comfortable with her Dell laptop. She found it frustrating, since the way you do things often changed The ASUS Eee PC is very simple to use. You turn it on and in about 30 seconds , it is up and running. You just select the area you want to use ( ie, like email) and it presents you with the most popular choices, like hotmail , gmail and yahoo. Click on Yahoo and you are signed on and ready to ready your emails. The machine is very light and easy to carry. It is a good looking machine. It has all of the functions that an average user will need for normal activities. I would like to have one for my own use, but I guess I'll have to use her old laptop, since she doesn'twant to share her new machine.
Wanted portability, but too tiny for my fingers!
2008-08-31
I liked the idea of this and anxiously awaited its arrival. Unfortunately, the screen size and keyboard were just too small for me to get used to. I think if I were between 15-30ish, with great eyesight and tiny fingers, it would work just fine. I had to send it back and get an HP 14.1" screen laptop for $300 more, which fit my "age-related challenges" much better! A shame, though, because it's just so darned CUTE.
Very good for mobility...
2008-08-31
If your intention is mobility, this Asus can work for you.
Easy to carry, light weight. For small business, work or for internet conections that is perfect. It is not designed for gaming, video, or imaging... Designed for small powerpoint, excel or word jobs, if this is what you need... that's perfect.

I researched this buy for about 2 months - looked at reviews and compared prices. I've had the computer for a couple of weeks, used it every day, and am writing this review on it now from my hotel room. It has done everything as advertised. It is functional, easy to use and LITE!! I travel extensively and it helps me to stay connected. I hunt and peck as I type, so the keyboard is no real problem for me. I was intrigued by the Linux OS and it provides everything a basic user needs, though I will likely upgrade to Ubuntu in the near future.
Only problem I have noted is battery life. (If the battery lasted longer and it had Ubuntu as the OS it would be a 5).
I have no problems recommending this sub-notebook, I'm extremely happy with it.
