Name the Fish
2007-12-27
My two year old loves this puzzle and only had it for a few minutes before she wanted to know the names of all the fish. I only know half or so and am searching online for the rest of the names. I just can't believe they overlooked telling us the types of fish!
My 18 Month Old LOVES This Puzzle
2006-08-29
We bought this puzzle for my son when he was 18 months old because he is so crazy about fish. I didn't think he would be able to work the fishing rod to "catch" the fish, but he picked it up right away! It took him a while to be able to put the pieces back in the right places, but he still loved just fishing them out and then bringing them to me to put all of the pieces back in. We had to shorten the string on the rod to make it a bit easier, but other than that this puzzle is perfect. My son is now 2 years old and continues to really enjoy this puzzle and plays with it almost every single day. As with all Doug & Melissa toys, it very high quality and well made.
Great step after peg puzzles

My 18 month old daughter had mastered peg puzzles with pictures underneath so we got this one to challege her and keep her interested in puzzles. It works she loves all the puzzles in this series. She was able to them independently on the first try, but enjoys the challenge of getting quicker. We haven't tried the fishing pole yet to take the pieces out, but I am sure she will enjoy that when she gets a little older.
Love this puzzle

My kids love this puzzle, and I couldn't believe how quickly my youngest picked it up. Besides teaching spacial perception and the fine motor of keeping a hand steady while "fishing" or "throwing back" using the fishing pole, we also got some dramatic play benefit when we put out a box, spread them out on the rug around the box, and then the kids climbed in and pretended to be fishing.
The octopus is a bit on the heavy side, so it falls off more easily, but then I guess that teaches even more motor control, as well as persistence.
a fun puzzle game

I love this puzzle game but I think the recommended age is incorrect. My two-year-old daughter already mastered this game in less than 30 mins and now the puzzle is sitting underneath all her children books.
Wonderful!

Catch a fish, seahorse and more with this Magnetic Fishing Game. Game includes a special piece that magnetically captures the wood puzzle pieces on the game boards. This interactive game is great for developing dexterity and improving hand-eye coordination, visual perception and fine motor skills. The 9" x 12" board has 10 removable pieces.

hand eye control

I have an autistic son who is 5 and he loves this puzzle. As other reviewers have already said most of the good things about this...I just wanted to add that it is also good for the challenged kids out there. Not too tough and the colors and the fishing pole make it great for role play. Also, stands up to tough use...which my kiddos hand out. We also have th bug version...it is also great.
The Old One's Are the Best

This game really is a golden oldie, but none the worse because of that. If you want to tempt the kids away from the TV or the computer for an hour this is the ideal game.
It is addictive and all the family can join in, something that many families seem to have lost the knack of doing.
It is a game for young and old and lots of fun and helps younger children with their hand and eye co-ordination.
Great Fun

This is one of those items that you just have to tell other people about. My grandchildren love this game and entertain themselves for hours with it. That is no small accomplishment! It's durable, bright and colorful, and teaches coordination in a fun way.Sometimes you just come upon a real winner, this is one of those times. A great gift for any occassion. I think you and your child will be happy with this one.
