A Day of Achievements
Robbie, 13, Down Syndrome
Robbie's teacher had told me over the phone that he'd never really
taken to the computer, because he'd never found any programs that he
could do or that he was interested in. With
Food for Thought,
however, it was a different story. He was interested in the food
pictures because he could relate to them and he could do the
activities - simple sentence making and basic counting being just
two that he was able to achieve success in. His teacher was able to
leave him at the computer for up to ten minutes on his own and he
was independently occupied - a real first for him and a break for
his teacher so that she could attend to other students.
After this,
he had gained enough confidence using the program, that he was able
to show his classmate how to use the program - another first and a
definite boost for his confidence and self esteem.
