Generally, research has found that:
- Good spellers have many
strategies they use to help them learn to spell.
- Children who self correct
by reading over their work learn a great deal about spelling.
- Good spellers search for
ways in which language works and move from approximations to
conventional spelling in much the same way as they learn to talk
- Reading helps children
learn to spell.
- Memorising and learning
to spell are two different processes.
