Activity 10 - Hand Print

Rationale: Provides experience in creating another form of art with clay

Materials: Clay, board, cloth, clay tools.

Setting: Students have clay. 

Sequence:

1.  Flatten clay with palm of open hand to approximately finger thickness (1-2cm). 

2.  Clay may be rolled with rolling pin (optional)

3.  Press students hands into slab.

4.  Trim edges.  Student may then pattern edges if desired.

5.  Write or scratch students name and date into top side of slab.

6.  Leave clay to dry for approximately 10 days.  Glaze and fire.
