Title: The Player

My name is Xantai. You have never met a person like me. You never will again, after you hear my story.
Many years ago my name was Nick Chands. It was a common name: many people are named Nick. But it was not by my choice that I became Xantai.
It was all a horrific accident. One second I was playing The Game and the next, I was sucked into another dimension.
It is funny in a way. That the person I was would become so powerful. Things rarely happen like they did to me. This is my story. This is the story of the last PLAYER.

Nick groaned loudly as he recieved his cards. Only two Spades, a Two and a Five, an no Royal cards at all. He didn't have either of the Jokers.
Matt looked at him from across the table. He grinned smugly. ' Not so cocky now?' He laughed.
' Close your mouth,' Nick snapped. He turned to his friend Tim. ' Tim, whatcha got?'
Tim sighed and shook his head. ' I got two decks. Sorry, man.'
' Same here,' Nick groaned.
Matt and Joey laughed. Nick had to bit his tongue from cursing.
Matt, Joey, Tim and Nick had always been good friends. Nick did have a tendancy to get angry with Matt and Joey, but he never yelled at Tim.
Tim and Nick always were on the same team when they played Spades: and they always lost. It was said that Matt had invented all of the card games in the book: he and Joey knew them like they knew their friends.
' I'll take this deck,' Matt laughed. He slapped the Ace of Clubs down on the table. Groaning, Tim played the Ten of Clubs. Joey played a Two of Clubs. Then it was Nick's turn.
' Play your card,' Matt said impatiently.
' With pleasure.' BOOM!! Nick slapped a Two of Spades down on the table.
' Taken by a Two!' Nick yelled. ' Do I ever love misdeals!'
' Are you sure you have no clubs?' Joey asked suspiciously.
' No way!' Tim said defensively. ' Nick doesn't cheat!'
' Check me out!' Nick laughed.

Sadly, that was the only deck they won. The rest of it was a slaughter. They left Matt's living room table with Nick and Tim groaning loudly.
' Twelve decks to one our of thirteen,' Joey laughed as he opened up the door. The gang walked outside. ' That wasn't a game, that was a butchering.'
' Butchering?' Tim questioned. ' That's a new word.'
Nick looked at his watch. It read 6:00. ' Oh!' He yelled. ' I gotta go home!' He jumped on his ten-speed and rode away. He yelled over his shoulder, ' See you at school tomorrow!!'
