Title: The Survivor
Jacen and I were out on one of our many hikes in the woods, when we came across a cave that had been hidden by the forest for years.
'Let's explore it!' I said.
'Greg, I don't think we should...It's getting dark, it looks like a storm's coming, and what if it caves in?' Jacen asked me. What a wimp!
'Oh come on, just a couple of minutes!' we entered the cave. Jacen was shaking the hole time! The gave grew darker as we kept walking farther in. Jacen stopped.
'What if there's a bear?' he asked. I didn't know what to say. There certainly could be bears around. And we'd never outrun them, but, well, I just had to explore this cave! I could just make is outline out. I couldn't see 5 inches in front of my face! I heard Jacen cry out, and I knew he had fallen. I grabbed the flashlight from my backpack. Sure enough, he had tripped. A bit of blood had come out, but not a life-threatening amount. His leg was broken. I grabbed my first aid kit and treated his wound. But we were out of bandaids. What can I say? I like taking shortcuts! I grabbed my shirt and tightly wrapped it around his leg. He was in no condition to walk. I had to make a strethcher. I told him to stay, and not to move, and I charged out of the cave, looking for two long poles. I found some. I took his shirt and, with a bit of rope, made a stretcher. It was too dark we'd have to spend a night in the caves. We both took shifts at lookout. I knew we'd have to get back to civilization, and quick. Lightning struck...
