Title: The Secret Passage (Chapter 3)
Chapter 3: Professor Elm and the Neo Genesis Pokémon
'Yawn!' I was on the sofa in Silver's house. Nick had arrived and I told him to come and take shelter with a nice family I found. He was on the floor beside me. Vulpix lay beside him. Ring ring! Ring ring! Telephone. 'Hello?' I forgot to mention Silver was only being rude because he hated losing his room. In fact, he's really a nice kid. Click! Telephone (being hung up). 'Mom, that was Professor Elm. Wanted me to run an errand for him and said if anyone was staying at the house bring them too.' It was Silver calling out to his mom. Pikachu shook Vulpix and I hissed in Nick's ear, 'Get up.' 'Okay,' he said sleepily. 'Who wants some breakfast?' asked Silver's mom (I'm going to say Terry because she told me to call her that). 'We would!' called Nick, no longer sleepy. 'Yes, please,' I said. When we were in Terry's kitchen she asked, 'Are you going with Silver?' 'Yes, ma`am,' I answered. 'Call me Terry,' she said. 'Yeah, Terry.' After we ate a delicious breakfast of pancakes with strawberry syrup and chocolate milk (cool!) we set off to Professor Elm's lab. 'Hello!' he said when we arrived. 'You look like responsible Pokémon trainers. You can each have one from me if you want. Actually, I want you to run an errand for me. My friend Professor Pokémon has something for me. Could you go get it?' 'Yes,' we answered. 'Good. Thanks. Each of you pick a Pokémon.' Just then, the girl who called me ugly burst in. 'I'm here, Gramps!' she shouted. Seeing me she narrowed her eyes with a look that said, 'Oh, so you're getting a Pokémon, too?' I rolled my eyes. Nick said, 'Nice try with that match!' Silver gave us a look that seemed to say, 'What's all this about, anyway?' and Professor Elm said, 'Hi there, Erika! Silver and . . . err . . .' 'Crystal and Nick,' I finished for him. 'Yes, I promised my granddaughter she could pick a Pokémon before anyone else. Okay?' 'Okay,' chorused Nick and Silver. I rolled my eyes, stuck out my tongue and made a face. But Erika the Living Nightmare still got first pick. 'Cyndaquil,' she said. 'Then, I'll take Totodile,' said Silver. 'Chikorita is mine,' Nick said. I felt like I was going to explode. 'What about me?'
