Title: The Secret Passage (Chapter 11)

Chapter 11: The Ruins of Alph and Another Togepi
We walked into the Ruins. It was a big lot of land with some caves on it and a few small lakes. 'Pika!' Splotchy shouted, pointing to a neat, small house. 'Good going, Splotchy!' I said. 'Let's see if there's anyone in the house and ask them if we can stay for the night.' It turned out that the ruins was not a place to stay, and we weren't welcome around there unless it was day time. As soon as we were out of the ruins, I made a stupid looking face, said, 'No, it is nighttime and I'm afraid of the dark!' made a sound like BANG, and fell to the ground. Everyone was giggling. 'I know who you are!' said Misty. 'The archeologists!' I laughed. 'Yeah!' Ash said, 'You're a good actress.' 'Thanks,' I said. 'But sometimes it hurts.' 'How so?' asked Brock. 'If you're acting out someone falling, you hit your head on the ground. And sometimes something sharp.' 'Ouch!' said Misty. All of a sudden, my backpack shook violently. 'The egg!' I cried. I reached into my pack and pulled out the egg. There was a loud crack, and a spiky head popped out of the egg. Then two tiny arms and two tiny legs. 'Togi togi,' it gurgled. 'Hi there, little guy!' I said. Togepi # 2 smiled at me. Misty said, 'I thought it would hatch into a Togepi!' I set Togepi # 2 on the ground. 'Who ever it follows gets to keep it,' I said. 'Good idea!' said Misty. She walked away from the campsite. Togepi # 2 stood there. Then Ash walked away. Still, the Togepi stood. Brock? Nope. Silver? Nope. Nick? Nope. Erika? Nope. Of course, Erika pouted about Togepi # 2 not choosing her. I walked away from the campsite. Togepi # 2 ran to catch up with me. 'Looks like I get a Togepi!' I said. 'I'll call it . . . Shelly.' 'What?' Erika shouted. 'How could that cute little guy pick you over me?' 'You just don't get it,' said Ash. 'It won't pick you.' 'Why?' asked Erika. 'You're mean,' Brock said reluctantly. 'You think you always have to have it your way,' said Silver. 'You're a snob,' said Misty. Nick kept his mouth shut. 'You weren't the first person it saw,' I said. Erika looked like she was going to cry. Nick still kept his mouth shut. 'Let's call it a day,' I said, yawning. 'We'll list the last 300 bad things and good thing about in the morning, Erika.' We set out our sleeping bags and hopped into bed. As I was falling asleep I thought, The only good thing about Erika is she was born. If she weren't I wouldn't have Volty.
