Chapter 12
I opened my eyes just to see Volty staring back, looking afraid. 'What is it, Volty?' I asked, concerned. 'Pichu! Pichu pichu!' 'Shelly's gone?!' Volty nodded. 'Pi pichu!' Misty sat up, startled by our shouting. 'What is it?' 'Shelly's gone!' I said. 'Uh oh,' said Misty. 'That's not good.' 'You can say that again,' I said. Ash woke up. 'What's going on?' 'Shelly's gone. You could help.' Erika woke up. 'What the?' she asked. 'Shelly's lost,' said Ash. Erika grinned. 'I told you I should have gotten Shelly.' 'You shut up!' I shouted at Erika. Erika shouted back, 'You're such an irresponsible trainer you lost your newest Pokémon!' 'Well who was it shouting at her grandfather that she wanted the cutest Pokémon while she already had a really cute one?' I shouted. 'You!' cried Erika. 'Be quiet, you spoiled rotten brat!' I yelled at Erika. 'Let's settle this with a battle,' said Erika. 'You're such a bad trainer, you don't even know that your not supposed to settle grudges with a Pokémon battle!' 'Go, Cyndaquil!' 'I'm not battling!' I shouted. 'Cyndaquil, flamethrower!' said Erika. Then I knew what Erika meant. She had her Cyndaquil aim the blast at me! I closed my eyes. I didn't see anything (of course), but I did hear 'What the . . . hey!' Then, 'Way to go, Totodile!' and, 'That wasn't a good idea!' I opened my eyes. Silver was jumping up and down. Erika was standing 5 feet away from Silver, holding a Poké Ball. I walked up to Silver and smiled. 'Thanks.' 'No problem,' said Silver. 'And I think I might have found Shelly.' 'Really?' I asked. 'Where?' 'Over there,' said Silver, signaling to Erika's sleeping bag. 'Great,' I said sarcastically. ' I walked over to Erika's sleeping bag. Shelly was playing with a doll. I picked up the doll. It was battered up. One of the eyes was missing. 'Get away from my Togepi!' Erika yelled. I rolled my eyes. 'I'm sorry, I must have heard wrong. Your Togepi?' 'Yes,' said Erika. 'If it's over at my sleeping bag, than it must like me.' I handed the doll to Shelly. It smiled. 'I think it has something to do with this,' I said, taking the doll from Shelly. It frowned. Erika and I tried the thing were we walked away. We went at the same time, and still Shelly followed me. Erika started to cry. 'But why did it follow you?' she wailed. We started off on our journey when Brock got up. As we walked along, Silver whispered to me, 'We've got a big Cubone traveling with us.'
