Title: Voldemort's Revenge! (Chapter One)
As the gleaming black castle loomed up ahead, the entire Hogwarts Express paid its respects to the magical school. The pond glittered as thin silver rays of moonlight broke its smooth, gentle surface. The first-years gasped at the sight of one of the merpeople, who looked rather angry.
'Look at Derrik Dewis,' I muttered to my best friend, Jacob, pointing at a tiny, gray, mousy boy whose pale face was twisted with fright. We both laughed wickedly.
Finally the large scarlet train screeched loudly to a stop. The first-years looked nervous as they climbed slowly outside into the fresh, cold night air. Some of them screamed when they saw the shadowy bulk of Hagrid, shrilly breaking the thick silence that hung over all of us like a warm blanket.
'Come on, I'm not gonna hurt yeh,' Hagrid said in his soft, kind voice, his shiny beetle-black eyes twinkling warmly.
Shaking, they clambered clumsily into the old, creaking wooden boats, and as the train carried us closer to the castle, we watched as the boats slowly drifted to shore. Suddenly, we heard a high-pitched, cruel cackle that sent shivers rolling down my spine, and a huge figure emerged from the dark, mysterious lake. We all knew who it was at first sight, and hollered with great fear. Voldemort had returned to Hogwarts, as strong as he had been thirteen years ago!
