I once knew a boy named Charlie. We were once best friends. We met at the park one day and ended up going to school together. Charlie and I talked about everything, and I soon found out Charlie had a secret. Charlie had a secret that he made me promise not to tell anyone what his secret was, but since the popular story is out in the open, I guess I can tell you what really happened. Charlie's dad was a criminal, and I mean he is a criminal with a capital c. Charlie's dad was a murderer, thief, and counterfitter! So you can see he wasn't exactly the fatherly type. Charlie's dad abused him to the point where he came to school with bruises, cuts, and scars all over him. All of that was because of Charlie's dad David. Charlie had a little brother Harley a.k.a Lee. Lee lived with his mom Amy. Charlie's parents got a divorce and I really think that Amy made a big mistake by leaving Charlie with his dad. A week before Charlie died he came to school with a broken leg and arm both on his right side. He told the whole class he was in a car wreck but I knew it was another result of abuse. A week later Charlie died. Everyone but David and me were told a lie. Everyone else thought he was killed in a wreck, but I knew the truth. Standing over his grave after the funeral, I wasn't for sure if I should have kept his secret. But if you know someone like that, your best bet is to tell someone. That is what I should have done.
