Title: The Black Christmas

Christmas Day was not like most Christmas' in 2002. We were just about to eat our Christmas lunch when we had a knock on our door. It was a fireman. A huge bushfire was on its way and we were right in its path. The weather was so hot and dry and it was really, really windy. The fire was like a storm. You could hear the fire roaring. The leaves were flying around. The sky went brown, grey and then black. We had to evacuate, now. We left our food on the table and put some special things in the car and drove away.
The next day, we were allowed back into Oakdale. It looked like the moon. There was not a green thing in sight. We are all thankful that the firefighters worked so hard on Christmas day. Only 6 houses were burnt down and noone was injured.
