Title: The Mirror
One night, at Hogwarts, I decided to sneak out and explore. As I crept
down an unfamiliar corridor, hoping that I would be able to find my
way back to the Gryfindor common room, I saw a room that I had never
been in before. I thought, 'Hey! Am I exploring or what?' I went into the
room, which was empty, all except a mirror, in the very corner of the
room. 'What on earth is that doing here?' I asked myself. I decided
to have a look in it, you know, to see if my hair looked okay. But
when I looked in, I gasped. I could see myself, alright! But I was
older, probably around, well, nineteen or twenty years old, and I was
the Minister of Magic...everyone liked me as much as Albus Dumbledore
...I was as powerful as him, too... I snapped out of some kind of trance.
For a moment, I didn't know where I was---or even who I was. Then I
remembered---everything. 'I wonder if that mirror tells the future?'
I wondered aloud. 'You are just like me when I first saw that mirror.'
said a voice from behind me. I gasped and spun around. Harry Potter
was standing behind me. 'So... it doesn't tell the future?' I asked slowly.
'Well,' he said, 'I'm sorry to say this, but it doesn't.' 'Then what does
it do?' I asked. 'It shows you what your heart most desires. My advice
is to stay away from it---it can drive you mad.' I walked back to the
Gryfindor common room with a heavy heart, knowing that I would never
be as powerful as Albus Dumbledore, but glad to be away from that mirror!
