Title: Cave Dwellers
Chapter 1
There was an old legend about a young boy who lived in the caves of Oklahoma. He moved to the caves when he was only two. His mother brought him there because she couldn't afford to take care of him. He learned to walk, talk, read, write, and hunt all on his own. Of course this was back in a time when there was no supermarket or grocery store so they had to hunt for hteir food. Legend says that he was a monster because he didn't have any parents and that he still lives in Blackberry Cave in Northeast Oklahoma.
Ughh, mom, you didn't have to pack that! 'Well, dear, you're going to be there for a long time so...' It's not that long, only a week, mom. 'Really? That's a long time if you think about it! My poor sweetie will be out in the wilderness all alone with no shelter or food or...' Cut it out, mom, stop kidding around this is a serious matter you know! 'Ha ha ha ha' Ha ha ha, mom stop we can't play, I have to pack, ha ha ha!
So, Matt, are we going to set up camp near the cave? 'Well, no, I thought maybe near the river was better so we don't have to lug our canoes so far.' Oh, well, that's a good idea, I guess. I wanted to see if the legend was true bu tyour idea is best because you're right about the canoes. 'Oh, so that's what this is sll about! You wanted to see the 'Cave Dweller', well, you'll get you're chnace just like everyone else who went camping on Berry Mountain.' What are you talking about, like everybody else?
(The car pulls up to the small parkinglot) 'Everybody out! Ahh, doesn't the fresh mountain air smell great in the evening!?' Yeah, it does! Where do we go first? 'To the river, we hahve to put all of our things in the cnoes and paddle downstream until about nightfall or until we see the salmon coming upstream. The salmon aren't usually up this far during this time of year.' Okay, let's go then!
The water feels great doesn't it? Like a soft ocean breeze brushing up against your body only it feels cooler. 'Yes, I know it feels like that a lot in the mountains this time of year. We'd better paddle quicker I think we are going to get a little bit of rian tonight so we have to set up camp soon.'
