Title: Parting of the Paths
You wouldn't believe this now,
But I have to tell you, somehow,
I just think you have to know,
But you'll be mad at me, though,
I don't consider you my best friend,
But it's so obvious that you can't see,
That your behavior doesn't fit that trend,
At least not the criteria for me,
Best friends don't rely on the other,
To set up the sleepovers and fun,
If I decide to be friends with another,
You decide that you have more than one,
Maybe it's just me who's confused,
In the sense of fairness and honesty,
You're leaving me oh so bemused,
You're not the best friend you used to be,
Why do times have to change,
In ways that pain my heart,
I feel it's an unfair exchange,
That was really fair from the start,
I was a great friend to you,
I want to say I still am,
But I don't know if it's the truth,
Or our friendship is just a sham,
They used to say our names,
As though they belonged together,
But I'm sick of playing these games,
We won't be friends forever,
It might be time for the paths,
To split in two directions,
This is time's wraths,
Imposed upon best friends,
If now is really that time,
I bid you goodbye with no regrets,
Our friendship was sublime,
I have had no better friends yet,
