Title: The Secret 3
Katie carefully climbed onto the steps. She stepped up all the way until she was at the outside of the third floor. Luckily, the window that was ajar also had a side window. She peered through it, squeezing her eyes so she could see better. When she looked inside, she saw nothing. Katie sighed, starting to climb down the stairs. The railings shook as she climbed down. When she got to the bottom, she saw Stacey running out of an alley.
How come I didn't see that earlier? I had looked in all of the allies, Katie asked herself. She didn't waste anymore time. Katie raced off and followed where her friend ran. She came to a hault when she came up to a street. Which way did she turn? Katie looked side to side, wondering which way she should take. She really didn't have much time. It was getting darker and darker, and some of the streetlights were already on. Katie decided to turn right. She had a hunch that Stacey had gone in that direction. Katie ran fast, merely glancing at all of the allies as she passed them. Up ahead she saw her friend, talking to Mrs. Kurt, their teacher. Katie felt a little puzzled. Why had she been running? Katie stopped running, and walked the rest of the way up to Stacey and Mrs. Kurt.
'Hi Katie,' Stacey said. Stacey looked like she hadn't been in any trouble, or that she had been running. Katie stared at Stacey for a while, not bothering to say hi back. 'Um, Katie, are you ok?' Stacey asked. Katie just nodded. She felt quite angry at herself for thinking there was something wrong. She was becoming paranoid probably. After a short chat with Stacey and Mrs. Kurt, Katie ran home so that she wouldn't be late. When she walked inside, her whole family was watching 'Funniest Home Videos' on T.V.
Aw, darn. I missed some of it, Katie thought. She sat down on the floor next to Marc. There was a video of a baby eating. The baby didn't want his food, so he flicked it at his father, and it went inside his father's mouth! Katie sighed with relaxation, glad that everything was ok, and she didn't have to worry. But, Katie could hear something. The others obviously didn't hear anything because they didn't comment about it.
Here we go again, Katie thought.
