Title: Upside-down (part 4)
“What? Do I have lipstick on my cheek or something?”
“No ma. I’m just thinking of something funny that happened today at school.” Tonya shoveled her spoon into her ice cream.
Allison zoomed up the stairs. She went so fast that some pictures flew off the counter. Tonya’s mother stared at the papers. Tonya ate her ice cream faster.
“What was that?” her mom finally asked.
“I think I left a window open!” answered Tonya as she jumped down from her chair and ran to the stairs.
She ran up the steps skipping every other one. When she got upstairs she ran to her room stepping over open books in the hallway. When she got to her room she found Allison lying in the middle of a pile of books, all of which she was reading.
“What are you doing?! My mom isn’t going to believe I messed up the house in two minuets!” Tonya exclaimed.
“I have to find out.” Allison said opening a book called ‘Mysteries of the Unknown’.
“Find out what?” Tonya asked reading over Allison’s shoulder.
Page 155.
“People have claimed to see ghosts but none of the cases have been proven to be real.”
“Yeah, right.” Allison smirked, then turned several pages and started skimming.
“In 1932, a ghost named Alexander…”
“I’m not looking for an Alexander!” Allison said flipping pages rapidly.
“It is said that 1979 was the strangest case of a ghost sighting. A witch hunter was out for blood and caught a soul that day. People say that he didn’t actually catch a witch, but a child of 12. Allison was her name. Some people say that she appears when her favorite songs are played.”
“Gee, I make the books but they can’t even get more than a paragraph about me in them,” Allison complained while skimming the book for something else. “Do you have any other books on weird stuff? Those books over there are fiction and people might as well think this one is also.”
“What exactly are you looking for?” Tonya asked again.
“A clue about why I’m here. I mean, duh, this is my house, but other than that…” Allison shrugged then kept on skimming books.
“I’ve got an idea.” Tonya said running out of her room.
