Title: Upside-down (part 6)

Allison read the screen as Tonya followed along on the printed paper. “1979 -- a year many people fear. That year was called the Haunted Year because there were the most ghost sightings reported to the police and ghost hunter service. The strangest sighting has been updated many times. The first sighting was on February 26, 1979. A woman in Virginia claimed to see a girl of the age of 12 in her bathroom singing. When the woman took a closer look, she could only see the girl in her mirror.
“In January of 1985, a boy saw a young girl in his grandfather’s apartment dancing like she was in the 70’s. The boy told his grandfather but when the grandfather went to look for her, girl was gone. Neither the boy nor his grandfather could figure how she got in or out of the apartment.”
Allison and Tonya continued reading to themselves. Tonya then broke the silence. “What’s so important about all this?”
Allison gulped and said, “That girl was me. Now listen to this.” Allison’s gaze turned to the paper once more. “On June 11, 1992, a couple claimed to see a girl who seemed familiar but they couldn’t place who she was. It is thought that Herbert Malone, the husband, realized who the girl was, but died of a heart attack before he told anyone. His wife, April, still wishes he had lived long enough to tell her that he loved her and who the ‘ghost girl’ was.”
Tonya asked again, “Why is this important?”
“Because that’s my mom!” Allison said trying not to shed tears.
“Who?”
“The only female in this story!” Allison impatiently explained. “We have to find her -- to get more information.”
“But Allison,” Tonya complained, “it’s nine o’clock at night! We can’t look for anyone right now.”
“I thought you had brains.” Allison said taking control of the mouse once more.
Allison went to the top of the screen, highlighted the word ghost and hit the delete button. In the space where the word ghost had been, she typed in something-something-missing-persons. A webpage started loading.
“How’d you do that?” Tonya asked, looking at Allison in amazement.
“I’m a fast learner.”
The webpage had stopped loading. Tonya watched Allison skim the page until she came to a link which she clicked on it. On the next page was a blank where you put the name of the person you were looking for. Allison typed in ‘April Malone’ and the computer started searching. Pretty soon a biography popped up on April Malone.
