Title: Jakes winner

The ball thundered against the opposition post. Jake held his head in sadness as the shrill sound of the full time whistle rung through the terraces. Jake ripped off his no.9 shirt and shoved it towards an opposition player. The final score had been 0-1 to the other team, West End Town. Although Jakes team still had the return leg of the semi-final it was never nice to lose a game.
The week passed without much publicity for Jake Bannen. Although his shot had been printed on the back page of EVERY newspaper in Britain. The mirror had called the miss a SITTER. Jake tutted to himself 'Sitter, I was 20 yards out, it was an impossible shot.'
The day of the Dylan Cup finally came, and an enormous roar filled the main stand as Jakes team( Blain United ) ran onto the crisp, emerald grass. The first half was a stalemate with neither team drawing near to the mark. Second half Blain Utd looked a different team. The attacking half Junio Halbratzi, the 4.8 million signing from Lazio set uo Jake for an AMAZING goal. Halbratzi croosed a swirling ball into the box and to combine the perfect goal from a perfect cross Jake dived forward. The header was timed perfectly and the ball rocketed into the top right hand corner.
With 5 minutes left and the score 1-1 on aggregate it looked as if the match would go to penalties. But ironic enough on 91 minutes with another minute of stoppage time left Jake Bannen struck. Kallstrom, the tricky swedish winger, had cut inside and thread a fine through ball for Jones on the right. Jones executed a pinpoint cross and Jake, the 6 ft 4 inch forward, raised his big left boot and volleyed the ball into the roof of the net. 2-1 on aggregate, and Blain Utd were through to hte final.

I would like to dedicate
this story to my old dog
Jake, who was put down late
last year.
