Title: Wandering My Way Home

It used to be safe enough so that I,
Could walk barefoot along the smooth road,
But longer do I dare try,
To walk as I carry burden’s load,

I wish I could let my feet free,
To feel the heat of the sun,
But all the sun they would see,
Is the collective pain of one,

I want to swing my shoes,
Between two fingers as I roam,
Soaking up the beautiful views,
As I wander my way home,

But now there is too much danger,
Of cutting my foot upon glass,
Or running into a stranger,
I cannot let this danger pass,

I will miss those sunny days,
When I had that blessed freedom,
Danger has its sneaky ways,
Of how it should become,

We can make those days come back,
To live and walk among us,
First we must pick up the slack,
And help the people trust,

We can give our children,
The opportunity to walk,
And hear the fleeting call of the wren,
Not missing human talk,

We’ve lost the appreciation,
Of the simplest wonderful things,
Everything today’s been overdone,
Simplicity’s the truth that rings,

So help us mend our ways,
And let us walk upon the road,
Simplicity’s wonders will amaze,
Those who are wandering their way home,
