Title: Queen of checkers
Her Name was Kayleogh and she was the queen of checkers absoltley no one could beat her not even the computers so she thought. Every year our towm would hold it's annual checkers tournament. Amost everyone in the entire town entered even though every single year since we could all remember Kayleigh took home the championship. Of course after so long no one wanted to enter to win the free lunch at Karen's Kitchen. So the checker's club decided to up the prize to a five-hundred dollar savings bond and for five=hundred dollars to be added on till someone finally beat Kayleigh at her own game no pun intended. As the tournament grew closer I including the rest of the town began to practice and practice hard. As we watched as Kayleigh went on with her usualy routine as if she knew that she was walking away with the now $2,000 savings bond.
The day before the tournament there is this kid in my third hour class and since it was the day before the tournament all the teachers decided to let us practice a little. My teacher explained to him what we were doing and He went over to Alex fisher and asked him to play a game. He won with no problem but anyone could beat him. Then he moved on to eric. Then stacy then Kyle Then Chelsea. By the time it was over he had gone through the entire class winning and at least being able to keep a minimum of 8 chips on the board at all times. So I finally got up enought nerve to ask him if he wanted to goin the tournament he said sure and the macth was on.
As expected Kayleigh flew through the compotition as if it were nothing and so did the new boy. Finally it was down to the last two Kayleig and the new boy. It was a long exciting but boring match. For a whille there it seemed like kayleigh was wining. thy both had two chips left ant they were going after each other like sharks. Then it happened Kayleigh made a bad move and lost. The new kid congradulated her something that Kayliegh had never done as her graceully accepted the bond for $2,000. After that day Kayliegh got shall I say Little more grounded when it comes to winning. I guess it takes being beat to realize what winning is all about.
