Title: The Secret Mystery *Chapter One**Part One*

*-CHAPTER ONE-**Part One*
'DING!' The bell had finally rung on that hot Friday afternoon. It was a looong, drawling, scorching afternoon in Sacramento. Alice and I were just DYING to jump into the neighborhood swimming pool. It was mid-april and it was a whopping 98 degrees!!! Tho school had little air conditioning in our 7th period class, so everyone was feeling tired and lazy.
Alica nad I walked out to our lockers to get our things. 'Could we head to the pool?' I asked. Knowing Alice, she'd want to do homework first. She heaved a large breath. 'Yeah. We can chill for a couple minutes, and then do homework while we dry off. I SO can't concentrate in this heat.' she sighed mournfully.
I smiled thankfully and we started walking down the street.
We entered the towering gates and walked to the admissions stand on our right. Jainey was helping another family with 3 small children as we walked up.
'Thank you!' she called as they walked to the women's dressing rooms.
'Hiya gals! The regular? Lemme see your cards.' We had pre-paid for pool cards we could use all year. They were very handy on days like this when we had no money on hand.
'Hi Jainey...' we both mumbled as we searched through our bags for the little green cards. 'Ha!' I pulled my card out and she punhed it merrily along with Alice's.
I am done with my job in the admissions stand at 3:30 and then I get to work as the eveing lifegaurd in pool 2, so we can swim together!!' she smiled happily and we all laughed. 'Ok- um, hurry cause we;re only staying until around 4ish.' Alice added as we spun around, heading for the dressing rooms. I looked back and winked at Jainey. She and I both knew that once Alice had jumped in the cool wafty waters, 45 minutes wouldn't be long enough. Jainey waved and winked right back at me and resumed her work while we walked into the dingy changing rooms.
We went to our separate stalls and dropped our bags in unison with a large 'clunk'.
'Should we hit the warm-up lanes first?' I asked. We always did a mile swim before we free swam. I have no clue why we did this though, I guess it was just tradition.
