'Well,' he started. Then he paused as if trying to find the right words to phrase it right. Alice and I opened our eyes wide (though it stung from the chlorine) as though to say 'WHAT?!'
'Kids at practice today were sayin that we're gettin a new kid at school Monday. An Illinois kid, if I'm not much mistaken.' He was now sitting on the diving board, which was against the rules. (Thats CC alright!)
'A girl?!' Alice sqealled. We both loved the opportunity to meet new people, especially before Charlene, the school bully.
We waited on baited breath for an answer. 'Unfortunately, no. A guy, he can hang wit me.' He gave us a thumbs up and slid off the diving board. Jainey came over just then. She was a Junior in high-school, yet she hung with the 12 and 13 year olds.
'Hola!' she cannon balled in, splashing all of us. 'Sheesh, this feels good. I've been standing in that hot little hole in the wall for 3 hours.' She ducked down underwater for a second and popped back up.
'So you guys wanna quick game of World Attack?' asked Alice.“I gotta go for a second- I’ll try to come back in a sec.” Said Jainey quickly, glancing at the clock. And she strode away before any of us could reply. Anyways,World attack was her all time favorite game. I threw the diver stix in the pool, and she and carl had to retrieve them before they touched the floor of the pool. Otherwise there would be a 'world attack'. It was a really fun game, but it kept you short of breath.
'RAD!' nodded Carl. I shrugged and followed them to the edge of the pool.
'so, um, who's tossin?' I asked. They both stared at me. 'NUH UH!! I always have to throw!! No way!!'
