Title: The Secret Mystery *Chapter Two**Part One*
“OK- tammorow you gals wanna hang? Oh wait- the new kid comes tomorrow! We can check it out! Wanu?!” Carl asked as we trundled by Alice’s house. I looked at him shyly.
Alice, seeing that I wasn’t gonna answer, went ahead and replied, “Um- yeah, but he’s a guy…” she said. We turned the corner and the mongo library came into view. “So? Who cares? Carl is a guy!” I told Alice Smartly. She bit her lip. “Good point…”
We climbed the 43 steps to the giant wood doors at the library entrance. We pushed them open with all of our might, and went to greet Ms. Cran.
“Hello Kids!” she said hoarsely. “ Ahhhemm! Excuse me…” she cleared her throat and continued. “The library closes in 15 minutes! You kids know that!” she seemed very concerned.
“Dear Ms. Cran, we aren’t hitting the books. We’ve come to help you shut down. Climbing 4 long flights of steps aint, I mean, isn’t healthy for a dear old woman like yourself!” Said Carl, as he stretched a long, gangly arm around her. He is merely twice her size, but she is also very short.
“Oh Carlton, what a gentleman you are.” Carl winced. Everyone knew he hated being called by his real name. “Err-sorta..” he mumbled under his breath. We all laughed silently as Ms. Cran slowly walked to the check-out counter.
“You kids could shut off the lights on the 3rd and fourth floors.” She nodded slowly “That would be of great help…” In a jiffy we all raced to the staircase to begin the long journey to the top levels.
“You know, the 2nd level lights need shut off too. Let’s each take a floor. Panted Alice. We stopped for a moment. “Ok, Carl takes top, I’ll take third, no no, I’ll take top Carl takes third and Alice, you can take 2nd. “ I said quickly. “Ok.” They both replied in unison, and we kept running our separate directions, feet sqeaking on the newly waxed steps.
