Title: For True Love
Penny was in agony. Her father ordered that she marry Joshua Carson, a rich and successful businessman who lived in the nearby town of Brown Creek. Tears cascaded down Penny's face. The wind whipped through her coal black hair, separating it into small pieces. She would be married to him tomorrow at 2:00 PM in Brown Creek. That day marked her spiritual death. She didn't love Joshua Carson. He was a kind man, but Penny had no feelings beyond friendship.
Night brought no comfort, only more rivers of tears. Fitfully, Penny fell into a restless sleep. She dreamed of the dreaded wedding day, but to her, the dream was a nightmare. She heard Joshua Carson's solomn voice repeating 'I do, I do,' like a broken record. To her horror, she heard her own voice echoing Joshua's words, 'I do.' Penny sat bolt upright in her bed, sweat and tears making paths down her face. Penny found new strength and determination. She wouldn't marry Joshua Carson. Penny went back to sleep, with more peaceful dreams.
Penny quietly awoke at 4:40 AM. The early time didn't bother her because her fear and determination gave her energy. She packed a few necessities, and crept to her car. Her keys weren't in her pocket as she had previously thought. Penny frantically searched. After over an hour of silent searching, she finally found them in the pocket of her wedding dress. How strange. She put the key in the ignition and turned. The motor wheezed a little, then ceased. Sighing, Penny got out and opened the car's hood. Lodged in the engine was a plastic bride doll. Penny was horrified, but refused to loose her cool. The doll was tossed to the ground, the car started.
