Title: There was a time

There was a land I dreamt of knowing
There was a sorrow I felt like showing
There were tears I felt like crying
Then regret I kept on hiding
There was a time that I was me
I had a dream I dreamt to be
I had all there was, and all of me
I saw everything there was to see
I heard what was to hear
I held onto what was dear
I felt what was to feel
Although what I felt wasn't real
I said what was already spoken
I tried to break what was already broken
I tried to fix what was not to heal
And what I felt wasn't real
I chased rainbows that were fading
The sea, by sun, is now degrading
There were chances I rejected
Change by which I was subjected
I had visions without sight
In a blackness in the light
But now
Echo is silent
Me my only guide
I created the rules, which I defied
I have no stars in the sky
Only the sun
No one to turn to
Nowhere to run
