Title: Animal Farm , by George Orwell(Eric Arthur Blair)

Quite Recently (maybe not that recently anymore) I was given an assignment by my grade 8 english teacher where I had to select a book on either a flight to freedom or a book on an utopia(perfect place). One part of this assignment was to find a review and analyze key opinions. A came across a review from this website saying that this book is the most profound book she ever read. She then went on and on about other things that confused her. This book was written by George Orwell to inform readers about the faults of a communist government and internal corruption caused by too much power. More importantly this book focuses on the Russian Revolution which took place during 1917(on some versions there is a note explaining the author's intentions)The overthrowing of Mr. Jones the farmer is compared to when the Vladimir Lenin(portrayed by old major the boar) led a revolt against the czar, Queen Alexandra. When the animals get control of the farm they work to feed themselves. As the animals start the put more trust into the pigs(who are the leaders), the pigs begin to abuse thier power and take advantage of the other animals. When Napoleon(Joseph Stalin) takes control of Animal Farm, he changed the rules to make his life easier but the other's lives worse for example, when a commandment stated that all animals are equal, he ordered iit to be changed to 'Some animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others' which doesn't make any sense but portrays to the idea of pigs being better than the other animals. In the end something shocking hppens but i won't spoil it. This book can by read by adults as a historical fiction or by children simply as a story(although some parts you will find confusing) to better understand and appreciate this story's full meaning, one must first have some knowledge of Russian History. I wouldn't recommend reading it if you are under grade 7 but once you gain more knowledge this book will become a fable that teaches and opens the mind.
