Title: Box Of Memories
Box Of Memories
When you said you didn't love me anymore,
I kept looking through all the pictures, cards and memories
And I kept wondering how this could happen to a love like ours
I tried my best not to read the loving poems you wrote for me
But when you love someone as I much as I did you, you can't help but want to feel the love in return
Everytime I would read your poems, my hopes would rise
But then I would see you with another girl; the hopes would be shot down
Making me want you even more
Finally telling myself that the cards, pictures, poems, and all of our memories
Should be placed in a box and hid, so I could not be reminded of the love we once had
Closing the lid, shutting it tight, I placed it gently on the shelf in my closet
After three long painful months, I finally realized that you weren't coming back,
You were settled with another girl, I was happy for you
But still wondering where we would be right now if we were still together
When the day came that you were just the friend, it hurt to think that all the feelings had disappeared
But realizing, they had just been placed safely away in a box of memories
When going through the closet one day,
I found that box, and those cards and poems
And, the memories
I hesitated, but slowly lifted the lid to the forgotten box,
When the lid finally came off, a feeling rose from the inside,
A good feeling, which made me smile, and a tear trickle down my cheek
All the memories had been re-felt, remembered
As I looked through the memories, I remembered the laughing, the crying
The smiles and frowns, but most of all I remembered how we both cared for each other
And created a bond between us, that no one could break
But as I read the poems you wrote, and the cards you gave me, I began to wonder again
How could a love like ours just disappear?
As I still know it was for the best, I know I am not over you
I know I keep telling myself that I am, and I tell others the same, but I don't think anyone really knows
How much I love you, but I bet you do.
And I also know, that deep down, you love me too, you jus don't know it yet,
And you wont, until you go through your box of memories, and wonder
How could a love like ours just disappear?
