English Verse- Speaking
Contest
On Saturday 14th of May, we participated in the Hong Kong English Verse – Speaking contest. This was a very exciting event for all of us.
There were 3 groups; Group A, B and C. Jessica, Cameron and the younger performers from our school were in Group A. Rory and I were in Group B. As for Ka Chi and Nicole, {they were the older ones}, so they were in Group C.
The Group A contest started in no time. Jessica, Cameron, Wasim and Fahim did very well reciting their poems. Soon The group A contest was finished.
The next contest was group B’s contest. It was my turn. I was getting a bit nervous at that time. Rory had done very well reciting his poem. In no time, the group B contest had also finished and the winners from group A and B were going to be announced. It was a pity that Jessica and the others from our school did not win a prize. It was also a disappointment that Rory did not win a prize. I honestly thought they would. I couldn’t believe it! I WON!
Soon the group C contest had started as well. Nicole and Ka Chi recited their poems very well. In an hour the contest had also finished. There was another disappointment; Nicole and Ka Chi did not win a prize too. They did very well though.
I got interviewed later on, I can’t believe I am on TV!
I have to thank Ms O’Brien for all her hard work. She has also sacrificed most of her time listening, correct and encouraging us. May we all thank her for all her time and effort.
