Title: The clock on the wall

It was 8:30 p.m. The clock on the wall said it clearly. “oh! Soon we would have to go to bed. But I am not tired yet and I really want to finish this game and play with the new train set also. That would take more than 2 hours, won’t it?” koel said it all in one breath. Not that his 7 years old twin brother did not feel the same. He did. But ma and papa had made it very clear that they were to follow the routine, which had been set for them. That meant studytime from 4:30 to 6p.m. And playtime from 6:30 to 9. This hardly used to bother the twins but today they felt excited and restless. They were simply dying to play with the shiny new train set their mamu had bought for them. And now, unfortunately there was no time! This was too bad. They tried thinking of something and finally…

“I have it! Lets fix up the clock to show the time wrong. You know, make it go one hour slower? How is that! Ma will never suspect anything. She always looks at this clock for time.” Dhruv whispered excitedly so no one would hear. Koel wasn’t too sure of this idea. “I don’t know. Maybe we get in trouble. What if she asks daddy for the time? He has a wrist watch.”
Dhruv looked angry. “She wont. Don’t be such a scary-poo!” “ Oh! I am not a scary-poo! Lets do it!” koel said indignantly.
Both of them checked for their parents and saw if the housekeeper was not coming their way. Then dhruv got a stool to climb on and made koel stand on guard at the door. She was to sneeze suddenly if someone came as to warn dhruv.
“I got it!” dhruv whispered happily. He quickly changed the time and now the clock showed the time as 7:30.
With a triumphant glance at the clock, both the children went back to playing. Suddenly, they heard their mother coming. They looked at the clock. It said 8’o clock. One whole hour top play! They both thought.
