Title: The Real Friend
I can never forget the day I joined St. Paul’s academy. It was the first time I was leaving home and going to stay in a boarding school. I cannot really say I was looking forward to it. Infact I was highly nervous. I was not really a very popular girl in my previous school. I had friends, but none were very close. Still, St. Paul’s was going to be entirely different. This time I had promised to myself that I would try and make more friends. I knew how to do that. I just had to find the most popular girl in my class and get friendly to her. She would automatically introduce me to the others.
My parents drove me to the school and we said a tearful goodbye to each other. It was very hard to leave my parents but I managed without breaking down. Then I turned towards the school. It was very huge. The whole school was divided into many blocks. All of them were white with red roofs. It looked pretty cheery and pleasant. So I assumed that the girls would also be friendly. I walked to the principle’ s office and knocked. A pleasant faced lady greeted me. She assigned me a dorm and showed me the way after giving me a brief introduction of the school.
As I walked towards my dorm I noticed a group of girls about my age. They seemed to be crowding around a single girl. She looked my age too but very pretty and outgoing. She was gesturing around with her hands and talking loudly. I took an immediate liking to her. As I passed the group they all looked at me and sniggered. Maybe at that moment I was foolish or just didn’t notice. Anyway, for some reason I mistook the snigger for a good-natured laugh. I smiled back at them and decided to try and get more information about the pretty girl.
