Title: Friends Forever: Chapter Two
Fifth grade passed by and the summer before sixth grade came. We still remained
good friends and when the first day of school came, we were very happy to see
each other. We all noticed right away that Amanda had changed. She was now
very much into the lip-gloss and boy thing, but we decided that she was just growing
up and that it was okay.
As the school year progressed, I began having little arguments with people.
Stephanie faded away from the group and Emily got closer. At first these
disagreements were with everybody, and they didn't bother me very much. Then
they mainly were with Amanda, and they started to get under my skin. Finally
I couldn't take it any longer. I had to do something. We had a big discussion
and I realized that we all were feeling the same way. We solved some problems
and things were better for a little while.
Then the sixth grade teachers planned a talent show. It was to have only real
talent, no skits or anything. Most of my friends wanted to do a circus act where
we could all show our different talents in one piece. I didn't really think it would
work very well, and neither did Amanda. I went along with it though, but Amanda
didn't. What she said was that she needed to make friends with more people
and that she wanted to spend less time with us. She did an act with some other
people.
We all had a great time working on the circus, including me. Both Amanda's group
and ours were working at each recess. Then we decided we had had enough
for a while and would take a while off from working on our act. Amanda continued
to work at every break, always saying they were almost finished. We said we
understood and left it at that.
