Title: My First Night At Hogwarts
It seemed as though I had gotten my letter only yesterday, but it had actually been a week. I was coming to Hogwarts so soon, but I was really excited. As I entered the Great Hall, I was dumbfounded. It was the most marvelous room I had ever seen! Floating candles, tables full of food! My mouth watered and my stomach grumbled.
'Hungry? So am I!' said a black-haired boy standing next to me.
'Who are you?'
'Oh, sorry. Forgot to introduce myself! Peter Townsend. And you?'
'Jodi Kramer.' We shook hands.
'This is Skylie Arnoldson.' Peter nodded in a curly-haired girl's direction. 'Met her on the train.'
'Hi!' I said.
'Peter introduced her to me.
'Hello!' she said with a smile.
We walked the rest of the way up to the stairs at the front of the room.
'You will now be sorted into your houses,' said a professor.
After the sorting ceremony, Skylie, Peter, and I realized that we had all been sorted into the same house, Gryffindor!
'Thank goodness we weren't sorted into Slytherin!' Peter exclaimed. 'Baaad wizards and witches come from that house.'
We ate and drank until we thought our stomachs would burst. Then we were led to our dormitories, and we soon had to go to bed.
As soon as everyone was asleep, I got up and walked over to the big bay window in the commonroom, sat on the cushion there, and looked out. The moon was a silver shimmer on the lake. It was a beautiful night, one of the best nights I'd ever known.
