Title: Tree

A tree withered and old
That sits in front of my window
It’s short arms and branches protrude
From a skinny aged body
Its skin is almost worn through.

Ask the tree about its life
It will tell you of past days
When its leaves were bright
Green and new
Its arms strong and long
It sat against a backdrop
Of sky blue.

Little children climbed its body
To see if they could get to the top
They sat in its arms laughing
And the fun never stopped
The tree in all its youth
Sat there and rejoiced
In the feeling of being needed
The feeling of love and acceptance.

He feels neglected and old now,
Useless really
Nobody needs him anymore
For he is too old!
Wrong!
I need him
I love him
He may die soon
And then I will miss him.
Because he is responsible
For what I breathe.
