Title: The Doctor, the Baseball Player, and the Mechanica
There are three men that are going to have their heads chopped off. One is a doctor, one is a baseball player, and one is a mechanical engineer. The three men are brought into the executioner's room. The executioner tells the doctor to lie down on his stomach or his back. The doctor chooses to lay on his stomach so as not to see the blade when it comes down. The executioner releases the blade and it starts to fall...but suddenly it jerks to a stop. The executioner says, 'Oh well, I guess you get off this time. The next prisoner please!' The baseball player comes over and also lies on his stomach so that he can't see the blade. The same thing happens as before. Then the mechanical engineer comes over. He says, 'I don't think it'll really work so I'll lie on my back.' He does. The executioner is about to release the blade when the mechanical engineer shouts, 'Wait, wait! I think I see the problem!'
P.S. My dad is a mechanical engineer and I can tell you that it is true that he and his friends from work would fix any device they could, even if it killed them.
