Title: Stillness

Stillness

The moon was shining bright now,
reflecting on the sea.
And in the caves, and little coves,
the tide reached its height.
The wind blew and ruffled grass,
but nothing moved on the rocks lee.

And in the lee, the quiet sprang
on visitors from the wind,
to fill the gaps, as silence does,
till it is cracked,
as something moves, sharp and quick,
like a little boy who has sinned.

But movement there was none,
so the silence remained intact,
and nothing moved in this
haven from noise,
the silence was real.
Domineering and heavy as fact.

As the sea wept it's foamy tears
and the gulls circled near,
the still remained, but now long gone,
to haunt a traveller passing.
You can feel it swirl, not gone for good.
As visible as fear.
