Title: A Rotten Day

What a rotten day this turned out to be.
I got woken up at quarter to three.
The dog was droolin' all over my head,
I started to wish I was dead.
I managed to sleep a few hours more,
woke up to find my dog and wallet had
walked out the door.
A note had been left right by the phone.
I read it and felt so alone.
It said,"Your uglier than a mule,
so it's time to part.
I'm tired of living in a horse-drawn cart."
My heart was in pieces-I sure felt bad;
I'd just lost the best bridge partner I ever had.
I got ready for work and just my luck,
the cat had stolen my truck.
When I called my boss to say I'd be late,
he said,"Your fired" and he sounded irate.
Then my luck took a turn for the worse.
The toilet blew up, and I started to curse.
I said to myself,"I just can't win,
I guess it's time to hit my head against the wall again."
By the side of the road,
I stuck out my thumb.
Then the cops pulled up and said,"You got any gum?"
Then they took me in, and gave me the third degree, said I was wanted in Tennesse.
I started to smile-it was music to my ears,
it was the first time someone's wanted me in years.
