Title: Unaware of the Dangers Nearby

A blue-eyed fly with diamond wings
Grew tired after flying for what seemed like weeks.
Noticing a nice, inviting spot,
He went to sit on the place he'd sought.

With a smooth surface and protective fence,
It was ideal for an evening rest.
But the plant he sat upon was in fact
A large Venus Flytrap with appetite to match.

The 'fence' was made of teeth to smash,
And the mouth opened wide and began to mash!
The poor little fly with sea blue eyes,
Did not have time for a single cry.

As the Flytrap sat there licking his chops
A screeching laugh came from the tops
Of the tall Sycamore trees in the pinkish light,
As the red sun set and became purple night.

Down from the foliage soared a white-striped hawk
With her keen eyesight she had seen the fly drop.
She found it quite funny that the blue-eyed fly,
Was unaware of the dangers nearby.

But the next day, just past noon,
A cry rang out, 'You silly buffoon!'
'The bird you just shot, of the white-striped variety,
'Is quite endangered, do you want to be fined?'
