Title: Unexpected
Her mouth was always tilted up in a smile, her eyes bright with merriment and her cheeks red from excitement. It did not matter that she wasn't beautiful. It did not matter that she had a fiery temper and never ceased to argue. It did not matter to me. For I looked into her soul and I saw her. My eccentric friend. The one I could not do without. We talked about everything and nothing, yet we still had more to talk about. Silence didn't last for long and seriousness was mixed with a lazy carelessness. We turned our backs on society, promising to never let them rule our lives, when we both knew we were beautiful and nothing could change that. We listened to each other when in woe and full of the deepest sorrow and laughed when happiness crept like a light into darkened shadows. Yet we weren't best friends of any kind. We were friends and cared for each other. We thought alike and it seemed we had the same minds entwined into two bodies. Yet we had other friends, that were completely the opposite of us. We found the same interest in things, but in others we disagreed flatly upon. This did not change us. We had known of each other's existence for so long yet had never made the effort to turn knowledge into friendship, until it came unexpectedly upon us like rain on a clear sky in the middle of a baseball game. But mayhap that is how friends become friends. Unexpectedly...
