Ruth-
Actually, I can see where you're coming from. Everyone wants a five. Just like everyone wants straight A's and a lot of money. But you know what- IT'S LIFE. You will sometimes get what you want, sometimes not. The trick is to not get upset- you are going to get a lot of criticism in your life, and you're going to have to accept it gracefully. Not everyone sees eye to eye on everything- if they did there would be no more wars, no more September 11th. Also remember that what someone says about your work is not necessarily what it's worth. What they say is simply their opinion, how they feel about it. Don't get upset about something like that- keep going with your life.
Also, ratings on this site are not necessarily for the content and meaning of the story, but for spelling and grammar as well. I thought your story was great, but yes, there were some spelling and grammatical errors. That's okay. It got a four- the second highest rating on the site. What are you complaining for? I have gotten plenty of fours and a couple threes. So what? You should have fun with writing and not worry about what it's 'rated'. The ratings are only what one or two people feel.
Please think about this if you ever see it.

P.S.- the Editor certainly doesn't favor the Americans(do you, Editor?)- she's from Australia. You'd think if she WAS biased, that she'd favor the Australians.
