Title: prologue continued 3

The Larrikin felt a change in the Magiopia. Then the sight came to him. The golden children were escaping on horseback not far from the castle. The stone in his sword flickered and the dragon screeched. He turned and began to levitate, with a dim purple mist rising beneath him.

In the middle of battle one of the king’s mages saw a tall dark man he knew had to be the Larrikin. There was a dragon of pure light hovering above him, the ancient spirit Firebrand. The soldier knew he had to try and stop the man before it could go after the golden children, or the king.
The Larrikin closed his eyes and began to concentrate. The Firebrand screeched, and with a purple smoke rising up beneath him, the Larrikin lifted off the ground. The solider remembered back to his studies in magic. All his memories of sitting in the classroom, and watching an old wizard wave his wand around, flooded back to him. He cleared his mind, and began to conjure a powerful striking attack. It could stop the Larrikin for enough time to get the warlocks to bind him and possibly kill him if that was possible. This thought gave him extra power as he pictured the Magiopia bending to his will. He felt the surge of magic run through his veins as he stood up straighter and focused on his target. Chanting the ancient language with hands held out, he released the power with such intensity that it burned the tips of his fingers.
