Title: Lost
I had followed him since noon. I knew his destination well. He would not avaid me now. Dusk and darkness had fallen. The house loomed ahead. He sat. Little goblens and angel children ran away from the doorway with hands full of candy. He started towards the door. He turned.
'Come out, little one. I know your there.'
'Godfather, I will not allow you to kill him. He is no threat.'
'Fool! He will be the Joiner!'
'You are the fool, mortal. I have warned you...'
'Natasha, Guardian, if you prefer, be what you may I still will not listen. And you,'
He drew his wand,
'will not stop me. Mos frez!'
It hit me full on. I collapsed. My body weak. He sighed with remorse and moved on.
I watched as he entered the house. Shouts, flashes. First, down stairs. Then, upper. A baby's cry. An inhuman cry. The house was suddenly afire.
Something inhuman left. Riding the wind like dust. I had lost him again. Yet, I was not worried. The atheme and rowan sat with me. But they gave no comfort compared the feeling of the sleeping child in the burning house. He would survive this and unite his destiny. I slept.
