'You got it?' I asked Sophie.
'Yeah, how did you figure it out?'
'I knew there was some way to do it,' I replied.
As I continued my conversation with Sophie in Professor Binns class, my head and my heart were racing. I understood that it wasn't powerful, all I could do with it was make people tell the truth, and only for a few seconds, But to know I had found a way to invent a spell...
'Marie, Marie,' said Sophie. 'It's time to go to Herbology'
We were the only people left in the small room.
'Come ON, we'll be late'
Still in a daze I let myself be dragged to herbology, stepping in so many trick steps, it wasn't funny. Stumbling down the castle steps, into the yard, Sophie helplessly spluttering over possible excuses for why fourth years were so late to a class only down a few stories and out the door, I was busy thinking about my spell. Wow, I thought, I have the power to change what people say. Maybe I should talk to Professor Sprout , I thought, after class, besides she is our head of house, and I have been going to her for advice on such things since day 1 at Hogwarts, she'll know what to do.
I took a deep breath, 'Professor Sprout, I need some help on something. You see, I found out a way to invent a spell,' I said quickly.
'Oh, is that all? Well you are wise beyond your years. Before the seventh year and usually after the fifth students learn how to make thier own small, not to powerful spells. Some people's spells are hexes, others are caring, some charms, some tranfiguration, some more powerful than others. It is very telling to know someones first and only spell, for it tells much about the person. What, may I ask was yours?'
'Mine is to make someone else tell the truth for a few seconds.'
'That tells me that you value honesty and love when people tell the truth. I can tell that you are wise and mature and have great pontential.' Brisk Proffessor Sprout turned soft just then, and I knew that smething had happened.
'Thanks,' I said, 'Thank you.'
