Who Wants To Be Sandwiched?
In my early childhood days, I used to be a nomad friend because whenever my place in the classroom got changed, I became best friends with the children whom I sat beside because I wasn’t an expert with feelings at such a tender age. But, when I was in Grade 4, my whole group of friends started to build up. We were the inseparable six!
Each year our bond strengthened and when we were all in Grade 6, two more were added to the group but none of them except for me approved of them whole-heartedly. I spent time with them more often and then my old friends started doubting me. They didn’t realize how much I loved them because they knew me inside out. There was nothing in this world, which I loved more than them, but they failed to understand.
So, I had to choose between the concrete six or the other two. I couldn’t. I am not the kind of person who starts a relationship and ends it abruptly so, I spent more time with my old friends and when they weren’t around I used to be with the other two, Janet and Jess.
Sometime later, matters weren’t as worse as they were before. My old chums also got along with the new ones but there was no lack of complaints from both sides. Now, between the confusion, started another confusion, but this time the person was the whole group’s rival, Jenny. We used to pick on her to the extreme because she wanted to be one among us. All hated her, except for Jess. Jenny tried her best to win our heart, but we had made up our mind not to let her in and we also made it known to her. She was filled with so much grief that she had actually considered a thought for suicide and she gave up all her tries and was a solitary girl.
Life progressed and before we could blink, we were in Grade 8. I was made to sit beside Jenny and I thought it would be my worst nightmare, but it wasn’t. Jenny wasn’t that bad, in fact not bad at all. She had a heart with a golden chest. The oldies noticed this and they knew well, before hand that a new member was on her way. Again, my friends complained to me, cursed me, cared for me, advised me that she wasn’t the one for us, but Jenny was accepted by all but not approved of because she was crazy and an utter gone case.
I’m now in Grade 9 but I’m still sandwiched between them. When I have friends like these, who needs enemies?
