That night I had much to think about. What other peoples spells where, and did someone invent wizardry?
The next morning, I told Sophie all about my conversation with Proffessor Sprout.
'So you really did invent a spell, and didn't even get in trouble for it?' questioned Sophie.
'Nope. We even got five house points for it.' I told my Hufflepuff comanion.
' How does it go?'
'You just say 'Honestedius Superlious' and the person can't tell a lie for the next thirty seconds.'
'Gee whiz, I can't wait till I invent my spell' said Sophie, her dark, wavy hair framing her face perfectly, matching in a strange way with her electric blue eyes.
'Do I have powder all over my face,' I said holding up my danish.
'No, just jelly,'she said. We both laughed untill my orange juice squrited out of my nose, which only made us giggle harder. Finally, I said 'I need to go wash my face.' and dismissed myself from the Hufflepuff table. In the bathroom mirror I saw a calm, confident girl of around 14. Me. I look almost completely differnt than Sophie with my straight, bright red hair, green eyes and porcelin white complexion. There was a smudge of strawberry jam near my right-hand dimple. I smiled and noticed how perfectly the freckles across my nose and cheeks matched. I raced back just in time for the post.
'What did I miss?' I asked, out of breath.
'Oh, nothing, just Pat trying to put his hair on fire for the first time this month.'
'He really needs to learn how to control his wand. Hey, todays the first of the month.'
'Yeah, a new record. 'The rest of her sentence was drowned out by gray, brown, and wite wings furiously beating the air, the arrival of the post. I smiled. Looking over at Sophie's mocha colored face, I could see her huge grin as well.
'Not much going on today,' said Sophie, 'Nothing's in the Daily Prophet 'cept Pond gettin' shunted from the Department of Control of Magical Creatures to Control of Magical Plants. A bit better for him, tamer, I think.'
Sophie and I started on our way to get our things for Arithmancy when we spotted David and Sonny Wilkins. The two fifth years were talking about using dungbombs period after next outside Snapes dungoen while the fouth years were coming in. Their voices became quieter as they whispered two words; invisibility cloak. They were going to set off dungbombs as we come into Potions and sneak away before he found them. I crept away, got Proffessor Sprout, came back, and said the words, 'Were you two planning to put off a dungbomb and blame it on the fourth year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws during our double potions? Honestdius Superlious.'
'Yes,' they said at the same time, then stared at me. Professor Sprout gave me a hall pass and five house points while deducting five from Slytherin. I smiled and laughed out loud.
