The book Sounder is a compelling story about the life of a boy and his dog. He is no ordinary boy though. His family and him are sharecroppers in the old south, after slavery. The story takes place in the winter when food is hard to come by, even for Sounder, the great coon dog. Sounder is the boy’s dogs! One morning, the boy wakes up to a wonderful smell of sausages and ham. As the boy eats he notices that his mother is humming – a sign of worrying. Soon the boy finds out what was worrying his mother! This book is very compelling, and I would recommend that everyone read this book! If you like keep-you-on-the-edge-your-seat-stories, then you will totally love this book I promise!!!!! I did.
