In Woodsong, the main character is Gary Paulsen and he is the owner of a sled dog team. He uses them to run his trap line and he has another team that he trains them to run. He enters a dogsled race called the Iditorod. His dogs take a wrong turn onto an old trail. The old trail eventually leads them to a dead end on a cliff.
